Young people are the same all over world, but there are many ways of living it. If you go to USA you will see that youth is not the same as it can be in Finland, Spain or Greece.
In Spain, you become a teenager when you turn 16. It's supposed to be studying the last year in high school now. Then you have the choice of keep studying or start working. 20% of youth people are not studying and they don't have a job. Unemployement is a problem also in Spain.
If you keep studying you have to study two more years before going to the university. Even if you decided to quit learning you are not an adult. When you turn 18 you can do almost everything. You can drive a car, you can buy alcohol, you can go to pubs, …, you can even go to jail!
Most of the young students don't leave their home until they finish their degree, they find a job and they have saved enough money to settle down.
Once you get into the university you can be studying for three to five years. If you've chosen degrees like nursing then you must study for three years, however, if you study degrees like engineering or law then you must study for at least five years. But now that is different with the Bologna Process. All the degrees will be four years.
In Spain youth go out very often. The culture and the weather make Spanish youth do things outside. During the winter, young people usually play sports in the evening, afterwards they get ready and usually have dinner with friends at the restaurants.
During the summer people go almost everyday to the beach or the swimming pool with friends, and at night, it's very popular to go to a bar.
Nowadays, before you go to bars you can go with your friends to drink at the street. You can take your drinks with you. This is called "botellon." Once you don't have more drinks you go to bar. You must wear nice clothes so you can go in, because if you don't then the bouncer won't let you go in. once you are in, you can order many different drinks, and also you can smoke inside. But this thing will change next June, because the government will forbid smoking in every place.
In our country young people are very different, but we, the Spanish are very cheerful, kind and active people.
The youth in Spain is similar to the rest of the world, but maybe, the difference with the others is the weather, because thanks to it, we can do a lot of things outside.
